About

As far back as I can remember I’ve been most content in this world when outdoors in nature. I’ve always loved camping in the wild places, fishing, hiking, gardening, following a dirt road or napping in a hammock under the pines.

I’ve been abundantly blessed to have grown up in the fertile California farm lands, surrounded by the beautiful Sierras and remote beaches. But more than that, I had a good country upbringing ~ a secure, free range, get dirty, have fun kind of childhood! Dad loved setting our family out on isolated off-grid adventures. Mom was in on it too of course but she instilled a side of nature that was full of inquisitive investigation! How nature worked in relation to our being was always (and still is) a huge part of her own calling. My sister, brother and I knew very well that our mom was a “health nut”. We swallowed our cod-liver oil and apple juice quickly in the mornings and burped it all day at school. We love to kid her about that one!

I have a large extended family; lots of aunts, uncles and cousins that have filled my life with lessons, stories and memories too many to tell. I also have an amazing husband who supports all my crazy ideas with never a doubt of success!

Layer upon layer my life, like yours has been formed by experiences good and not so good. Combining life’s experiences with the knowledge and wisdom of those ahead of us, maybe a little education, whether formal or traditional and we can bring some dreams to life! This is what I hope to do here.

This year (2020), I completed Rosemary Gladstar’s herbal courses ~ The Science and Art of Herbalism. Yay!!  What a wonderful two and half year journey it was. I learned so much more than I imagined I would about our plant allies and just how brimming over they are with gifts of support and lessons of gratitude. As with all of Yahweh’s creation, herbs are beautiful and simple but they are complex too. They deserve our good stewardship and they will demand and get our respect. Think not? Go walking bare legged into a patch of nettles and you shall see! What an amazing world the plants share with us. I’m so thankful for the impact Rosemary’s courses have made in my life and the spark that’s been lit to discover more. I hope you will join me….

“And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.” Genesis 1:29-30.
